David Castro-Balbi is a French violinist of South American origin and grew up in a family of musicians. In 2007, he entered the class of Larissa Kolos at the CRR in Paris, then of Svetlin Roussev at the CNSM De Paris. In 2016 he obtained his Master's degree at the Hochshule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar in the class of Pr. Friedemann Eichhorn. Winner of several international competitions in violin and chamber music, David is called upon to play in prestigious international venues such as, Salle Pleyel, Théâtre des Champs Élysées, National Theater of Bogota, Mariinsky in Saint Petersburg, Salle Zaradié in Moscow, etc... In chamber music he performs in a trio with his brother Alexandre Castro-Balbi on the cello and Lucas Debargue on the piano. David Castro-Balbi is also a member of the Thüringer Bach Collegium Or he performs as a soloist as a baroque musician. From 2018 to 2020, he was a member of the prestigious Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig. David plays on a violin made especially for him by Jacques Fustier (with the support of CIC Nord).
